Charitable Giving and the COVID-19 Relief Bill

The COVID-19 relief bill, which President Donald Trump signed into law on December 27, 2020, extends the additional tax incentives that the CARES Act created for charitable gifts. Specifically, it extends the increased deductibility of qualifying cash gifts by individuals who itemize, the increased deductibility of qualifying cash gifts by corporations, and the deduction for charitable contributions by individuals who do not itemize. These incentives, which originally applied only to contributions made in 2020, now also apply to contributions made in 2021.

DISCLAIMER: Please do your own due diligence when it comes to making financial decisions, and seek the advice of qualified financial, tax or estate planning professionals.
